Okada drew his inspiration from breaking chocolate bars into segments and the sharp edges of accidentally broken glass, leading him to invent the world's first snap-off blade. Interestingly, the name itself comes from the Japanese words "oru" (to break) and "ha" (blade). In 1979, the company introduced another revolutionary tool — the rotary cutter — which quickly became popular worldwide, and today OLFA remains a recognised leader in premium-quality cutting tools.
